Peter Grimes
Album by Benjamin Britten & Peter Pears & Benjamin Britten
Peter Grimes is an opera in three acts by the English composer Benjamin Britten, premiered in 1945. Musically it combines lyrical vocal writing, dramatic choral writing and a descriptive orchestral palette drawing on 20th-century tonal and modal language with maritime motifs, and it represented a pivotal work in Britten's career that helped establish his standing in mid-20th-century British opera.
