Cello Sonatas

The Cello Sonatas are two sonatas for cello and piano by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1862–1865 and 1886. They combine Romantic-era lyricism and contrapuntal writing, pairing song-like cello lines with richly textured piano accompaniment, and represent Brahms's early maturity in the first sonata and his later, more harmonically adventurous style in the second.
