Symphonies nos. 2 & 3
Album by Johannes Brahms & Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert von Karajan
Symphonies Nos. 2 & 3 are orchestral symphonies by the German composer Johannes Brahms, completed in 1877 and 1883 respectively. Both works exemplify Brahms's late-Romantic language: the Second is characterised by warm, pastoral lyricism and classical structural clarity, while the Third is more compact and motif-driven, reflecting his consolidation of a mature symphonic voice in the later part of his career.
