The record blends salsa with Puerto Rican and wider Caribbean seasonal folk rhythms, featuring driving percussion, prominent brass arrangements and energetic vocal call-and-response, and it came during Colón's early period when he was developing his brass-led salsa sound and exploring seasonal material.
