Má Vlast

Album by Bedřich Smetana & Wolfgang Sawallisch & Orchestre de la Suisse Romande

Má Vlast is a cycle of six symphonic poems by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879. The orchestral cycle draws on Bohemian folk elements and national themes, featuring vivid orchestration, sweeping melodies and programme-driven depictions of landscape and history that mark it as a culminating statement of Smetana's mature output and a landmark of Czech nationalist music.
