Spartacus Ballet Suites 1 - 3
Album by Aram Ilich Khachaturian & Royal Scottish National Orchestra & Neeme Järvi
Spartacus Ballet Suites 1–3 is a set of orchestral suites drawn from Aram Khachaturian's ballet Spartacus, composed in 1954–1956. The music employs late-Romantic orchestral writing with Armenian folk-inflected melodies, vivid orchestration and strong rhythmic drive, and the suites occupy an important place in Khachaturian's output and the Soviet-era ballet repertoire.
