Quintet in C major KV 515 / Quintet in G minor KV 516
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Fine Arts Quartet & Jean Dupouy
The String Quintets in C major, K.515, and in G minor, K.516 are two chamber works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1787. Scored for two violins, two violas and cello, they juxtapose expansive classical-era textures and lyrical writing with a notably sombre, turbulent G minor counterpart, and they occupy a place in Mozart's late chamber output where increased contrapuntal complexity and dramatic contrast became more prominent.
