Symphony No. 6 "Pastoral"
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Wiener Philharmoniker & Simon Rattle
Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68, 'Pastoral' is the sixth symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed and first performed in 1808. The work is notable for its programme-driven depiction of rural scenes, using lyrical melodies, folk-like rhythms and Classical-era orchestration to evoke nature, and it occupies a significant place in Beethoven's middle period as an example of his move towards more narrative, extra-musical expression.
