Symphony no. 5 / Symphony no. 7
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Staatskapelle Berlin & Richard Strauss
Symphony No. 5 and Symphony No. 7 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in 1808 and 1812 respectively. They illustrate Beethoven's move from Classical forms toward early Romantic expressiveness, with the Fifth built around an opening four-note motif and concentrated motivic development, and the Seventh characterised by pronounced rhythmic drive and dance-derived movements that expand orchestral colour in his mature symphonic writing.
First released: June 2000
