Piano Quintet in G minor, Op.57 is a piano quintet by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed and first performed in 1940. Scored for piano and string quartet, it blends lyrical slow movements, energetic scherzo writing, contrapuntal textures and stark harmonic contrasts characteristic of Shostakovich's style, and it represents an expansion of his chamber-music output in 1940.
