Symphonie Nr. 4 / Capriccio Italien

Album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky & Berliner Philharmoniker & Herbert von Karajan

This release is a recording of two orchestral works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, composed in 1877–78 and 1880 respectively. Both pieces display Tchaikovsky's mature Romantic orchestral voice, combining expansive, emotive melodies with vivid orchestration and rhythmic drive, reflecting his interest in personal drama and elements of Russian folk and theatrical idioms within the late nineteenth-century symphonic tradition.
