From the Plantation to the Penitentiary is a studio album by American jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis, released in 2007. Musically the album mixes big-band jazz and blues-rooted forms with prominent brass arrangements, and it continues Marsalis's engagement with historical and social themes in American music.
