Symphony in Three Movements / Symphony in C
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Royal Scottish National Orchestra & Sir Alexander Gibson
Symphony in Three Movements / Symphony in C is an album pairing two orchestral works by Igor Stravinsky, composed in 1945–46 and 1938–40 respectively. Both works exemplify Stravinsky's mid‑to‑late style, blending neoclassical structures with sharp rhythmic drive, colourful orchestration and modernist harmonic language, and they occupy pivotal positions in his career as he moved from earlier neoclassicism toward a more austere, rhythmically complex idiom.
