Vespers
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & The National Academic Choir of Ukraine "Dumka" & Yevhen Savchuk
Vespers is a choral composition by Sergey Rachmaninov, completed in 1915. Rooted in Russian Orthodox liturgical tradition, it features dense a cappella choral writing with extended low-bass parts, modal chant-like melodies and late-Romantic harmonic colouring, and it represents a key example of Rachmaninov's mature choral style within early 20th-century Russian music.
