Symphony no. 10
Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & Chicago Symphony Orchestra & Sir Georg Solti
Symphony No. 10 is the tenth symphony by Soviet composer Dmitri Shostakovich, completed and premiered in 1953. The large-scale orchestral work combines late-Romantic orchestration with stark dissonances, concise motifs and expansive slow passages, and is often discussed as a pivotal statement in Shostakovich's post-war output that reflects the political and emotional aftermath of Stalin's death.
