Feste Romane / The Pines of Rome

Album by Ottorino Respighi & The Cleveland Orchestra & Lorin Maazel

Feste Romane / The Pines of Rome is a pairing of orchestral tone poems by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi, written in 1928 and 1924 respectively. Both works employ large symphonic forces and vivid orchestration to evoke scenes of ancient and modern Rome, marking a late phase in Respighi's career in which he concentrated on programme music and expanded orchestral colour within early 20th-century Italian composition.
