Album by Henry Purcell & Cambridge Choir of King’s College & Academy of St Martin in the Fields & Philip Ledger
Musique funèbre pour la Reine Mary is a funeral composition by English composer Henry Purcell, written in 1695 for the funeral of Queen Mary II. Scored for voices and instruments with prominent use of sombre brass and organ and characterised by dotted rhythms and processional textures, the work exemplifies late 17th-century English ceremonial music and occupies an important place in Purcell's output as ceremonial and courtly compositions.
