Sonatas for Violin and Piano
Album by Béla Bartók & Gidon Kremer & Yuri Smirnov
Sonatas for Violin and Piano are a set of two sonatas by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1921–22. They combine late-Romantic virtuosity with folk-influenced modes, driving rhythmic vitality and pungent dissonances, and mark a pivotal stage in Bartók's move towards modernist, folk-inflected chamber music.
