Symphonie no. 6

Album by Gustav Mahler & Bamberger Symphoniker & Jonathan Nott

Symphony No. 6 in A minor is the sixth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1904. A large-scale late-Romantic work, it is characterised by dense orchestration, wide dynamic contrasts and episodic structures with dramatic percussive effects, and it occupies a central place in Mahler's middle-period output as an exploration of tragic and existential themes within an expanded symphonic form.
First released: 4th November 2013
