Quintet in A major, op. 114 D667 “The Trout”
Album by Franz Schubert & Zeus Ensemble
Quintet in A major, D.667 (Op. 114), commonly known as the 'Trout', is a chamber composition by Franz Schubert, composed in 1819. Scored for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass, the five-movement work blends Lied-like melodies, rich harmonic colour and classical forms with early Romantic expressiveness and represents a distinctive example of Schubert's mature chamber writing and his exploration of expanded ensemble textures.
