Piano Concerto no.2

Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & Fritz Reiner & Arthur Rubinstein & Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Piano Concerto No. 2 is a piano concerto by Russian composer Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff, composed in 1900–1901 and premiered in 1901. A late-Romantic work characterised by sweeping melodies, rich chromatic harmonies and virtuosic piano writing, it marked Rachmaninoff's return to composition after a period of creative difficulty and remains a central piece of the piano concerto repertoire.
