Suites for Two Pianos nos. 1 & 2
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & John Ogdon & Brenda Lucas Ogdon
Suites for Two Pianos Nos. 1 and 2 are works for two pianos by Sergei Rachmaninov, composed in 1893 (No. 1, Op. 5) and 1901 (No. 2, Op. 17). Both works feature late-Romantic harmonic language, expansive melodies and virtuosic two-piano writing, and they occupy an early-to-mid period in Rachmaninov's output that illustrates his development from youthful influences towards his later mature style.
