Symphony No. 4, op. 47 & Symphony No. 4, op. 112

Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & Orchestre national de France & Mstislav Rostropovich

Symphony No. 4, Op. 47 and its later revision Op. 112 are orchestral works by Sergei Prokofiev, originally composed in 1929–1930 and revised in 1947. The music marries Prokofiev's earlier modernist orchestration with later, more streamlined and monumental gestures, illustrating the composer's transition from his experimental interwar style to the more conservative idiom of his Soviet-period output.
