Piano Quartets nos. 2 & 3

Album by Johannes Brahms & Christian Tetzlaff & Barbara Buntrock & Tanja Tetzlaff & Lars Vogt

Piano Quartets Nos. 2 and 3 are the second and third piano quartets by Johannes Brahms, composed in 1861 and 1875. They combine Romantic harmony and dense counterpoint with strong piano writing and lyrical string lines, and they show that Brahms shifted from a youthful, dramatic voice to a more concentrated, mature chamber style.
