Symphonies Nos. 7, 8
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich & David Zinman
Symphonies Nos. 7 and 8 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1811 and 1812 and first performed in 1813 and 1814 respectively. They exemplify Beethoven's middle-period style, the Seventh characterised by pronounced rhythmic drive and dance-like patterns while the Eighth is shorter and more classical in proportion, displaying concise formal control and inventive orchestral colour as part of his ongoing exploration of musical form.
