Messiah
Album by George Frideric Handel & Academy of Ancient Music & Cambridge Choir of King’s College & Stephen Cleobury
Messiah is an oratorio by George Frideric Handel, first performed in Dublin in 1742. A Baroque choral work drawing on Biblical texts, it employs recitatives, arias and large-scale choruses supported by strings, continuo and brass, and is representative of Handel's mature oratorio output and of the 18th-century English choral tradition.
