Symphony No. 7 "Leningrad" is a symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1941 and first performed in 1942. The four-movement orchestral work uses expansive orchestration with march-like rhythms, fanfares and stark contrasts between lyrical and sombre passages, and was written during World War II with close associations to the Siege of Leningrad, forming part of Shostakovich's wartime output and of mid-20th-century symphonic repertoire.
