Romeo and Juliet is a ballet score by Soviet composer Sergey Prokofiev, composed in 1935–36. The music combines sweeping romantic melodies, sharp rhythmic propulsion and striking orchestration that juxtapose lyricism with modernist dissonance, and it occupies a central place in Prokofiev's stage works and in 20th-century ballet repertoire.
