Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Friedrich Gulda & Wiener Philharmoniker & Horst Stein
Piano Concertos Nos. 4 and 5, the latter nicknamed "Emperor", are piano concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1805 and 1809. They illustrate Beethoven's move from Classical into his mature early-Romantic style, emphasising dialogue between solo piano and orchestra, expanded orchestration and formal innovations that contributed to the concerto's evolving expressive and structural role in his career.
