Scheherazade / Capriccio Espagnol is a recorded collection of orchestral works by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed in 1888 and 1887 respectively. Both pieces are representative of his late-Romantic orchestral style, characterised by vivid orchestral colour, sweeping string lines and prominent instrumental virtuosity, with Scheherazade drawing on narrative Orientalist material and Capriccio Espagnol on Spanish-inspired dance rhythms, and they are representative of his mature output and the Russian orchestral repertoire.
