Symphony No. 8

Album by Anton Bruckner & New York Philharmonic & Alan Gilbert

Symphony No. 8 in C minor is a symphony by Austrian composer Anton Bruckner, completed in 1887 and revised in 1890. The work exemplifies late-Romantic orchestral writing with expansive structures, dense brass and string textures, dramatic contrasts and extended developmental processes, and it occupies a central place among Bruckner's late symphonies for further developing his harmonic language and large-scale formal approach in the 19th-century symphonic tradition.
