A Midsummer Night’s Dream / Overtures
Album by Felix Mendelssohn & Slovenská filharmónia & Anthony Bramall & Oliver von Dohnányi
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an overture and set of incidental music by German composer Felix Mendelssohn, with the overture composed in 1826 and the full incidental score completed in 1842. The music features lyrical melodies, fleet scherzos and transparent orchestration characteristic of early Romantic orchestral writing, and it occupies a central place in Mendelssohn's output as a composer of theatrical music.
