Lachrimæ, or Seaven Teares
Album by John Dowland & The Dowland Consort & Jakob Lindberg
Lachrimæ, or Seaven Teares is a 1604 collection of consort music and lute songs by English Renaissance composer John Dowland. The music is rooted in the period's melancholy aesthetic, featuring pavans and variations for viol consort and lute with modal harmonies, expressive ornamentation and contrapuntal textures, and it was published late in Dowland's career as a consolidation of his instrumental and song-writing practice.
