Water Music

Album by George Frideric Handel & Academy of St Martin in the Fields & Sir Neville Marriner

Water Music is a set of orchestral suites by George Frideric Handel, first performed on the River Thames in 1717. Composed in the Baroque style for outdoor ceremonial entertainment, the suites employ dance movements and bright orchestral colours and are representative of Handel's approach to public ceremonial music in the early 18th century.
