String Quintet

Album by Franz Schubert & Kuijken Quartet

String Quintet in C major, D.956 is a string quintet by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, completed in 1828. Scored for two violins, a viola and two cellos, it features expansive movements, rich harmonic language and an unusually deep sonority produced by the pair of cellos, and it is one of Schubert's final chamber works, composed in the months before his death and representative of his late style.
