Octet, op. 7 / Quintet, op. 29
Album by George Enescu & Gidon Kremer & Kremerata Baltica
Octet, Op. 7 and Quintet, Op. 29 are chamber compositions by Romanian composer George Enescu, composed in 1900 and 1947 respectively. The Octet uses late-Romantic string textures with expansive melodies and dense counterpoint, and the Quintet uses a later, more concise harmonic language and leaner textures that reflect Enescu's mature style near the end of his career.
