Symphonies nos. 14 & 15
Album by Dmitri Dmitrievich Shostakovich & Государственный cимфонический оркестр Министерства культуры СССР & Gennadi Nikolayevich Rozhdestvensky
Symphonies Nos. 14 and 15 are symphonic works by Dmitri Shostakovich, composed in 1969 and 1971 respectively. They exemplify his late-period style, characterised by terse orchestration, stark tonal contrasts and a preoccupation with mortality and musical memory, with the pair marking some of the composer's final explorations of form and expression in his symphonic output.
