Brahms: Symphony No. 4

Album by Johannes Brahms & Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique & Sir John Eliot Gardiner

Symphony No. 4 is the fourth symphony by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed and premiered in 1885. The work is a late-Romantic orchestral composition characterised by dense orchestration, intricate counterpoint and a synthesis of classical formal structures with chromatic harmonic language, and it occupies a central place in Brahms's output as his final symphony and an important milestone in late 19th-century symphonic music.
