Symphony No. 9 is the final completed symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1909. A large-scale late-Romantic orchestral work, it combines expansive lyricism, complex chromaticism and stark contrasts of mood and texture, and occupies a central place in Mahler's late output as an exploration of form, tonality and orchestral colour.
