Mein Vaterland / Má Vlast
Album by Bedřich Smetana & Gewandhausorchester Leipzig & Václav Neumann
Má Vlast (Mein Vaterland) is a cycle of six symphonic poems by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, composed between 1874 and 1879. The work draws on Bohemian history, landscape and legend, employing vivid orchestral colour, recurring motifs and thematic transformation to create an extended programme that occupies a prominent place in Smetana's output and in the development of Czech national music.
