Petrouchka
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & Orchestre de la Suisse Romande & Ernest Ansermet
Petrushka is a ballet by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, first performed in 1911. The score combines Russian folk-influenced tunes, colourful orchestral textures, strong rhythmic drive and bitonal harmonies, and sits between The Firebird and The Rite of Spring in Stravinsky's early ballet period, illustrating his move towards more angular rhythms and a novel harmonic language.
