The Four Symphonies

The Four Symphonies is the complete cycle of four orchestral symphonies by German composer Johannes Brahms, composed and premiered between 1876 and 1885. They exemplify late Romantic symphonic writing, combining classical structural principles with dense harmonic language, expansive thematic development and detailed orchestration, and they represent Brahms's mature orchestral output and his contribution to the 19th-century symphonic tradition.
