Symphony no. 6 “Pastoral” / Leonore Overture no. 3

This release presents two orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven composed in the first decade of the 19th century, completed around 1805–1808. Musically, the pairing contrasts a programme-oriented, pastoral orchestral texture featuring flowing melodic lines and rustic colours with a more overtly dramatic overture style characterised by bold motifs, harmonic tension and dense orchestral writing that points toward his later, larger-scale works.
