Violin Concerto / Lyric Suite

Album by Alban Berg & Anton Webern & Louis Krasner & BBC Symphony Orchestra & Galimir Quartet

Violin Concerto and Lyric Suite are compositions by Austrian composer Alban Berg, composed in 1935 and 1926 respectively. Both works blend late-Romantic lyricism with Arnold Schoenberg's twelve-tone technique and expressionist harmonic language, with the Lyric Suite exemplifying Berg's exploratory chamber writing and the Violin Concerto — one of his final works — integrating serial methods with more tonal gestures and an expanded emotional palette.
