Symphonie Nr. 9 is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1909 and first performed in 1912. The work is characterised by expansive late-Romantic orchestration, complex harmonic language and a mix of introspective slow movements and turbulent, dissonant passages, and as Mahler's final completed symphony it occupies a pivotal place at the close of his career and points towards early twentieth-century developments in orchestral music.
