Violin Concerto no. 2 / Piano Concerto no. 3
Album by Béla Bartók & André Gertler & Eva Bernáthová & Česká filharmonie & Karel Ančerl
Violin Concerto No. 2 and Piano Concerto No. 3 are concertos by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1938 and 1945 respectively. Musically they are characterised by a synthesis of modernist harmony, folk-derived rhythms and contrapuntal textures, with demanding solo parts and rich orchestral writing that mark them as late works in Bartók's career and illustrate key features of mid-20th-century concertante writing.
