Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring) is a ballet and orchestral work by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, premiered in 1913. The score employs driving, irregular rhythms, dense dissonance, expanded percussion and inventive orchestration to evoke primitive ritual, and it represented a turning point in Stravinsky's output and in the development of early 20th-century musical modernism.
