Symphonies 6 and 7
Album by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev & Vladimir Ashkenazy & The Cleveland Orchestra
Symphonies Nos. 6 and 7 are orchestral works by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, completed in 1947 and 1952 respectively. They represent the late phase of Prokofiev's symphonic output, characterised by condensed, often sombre orchestration, a mixture of lyrical and motoric passages, and a pragmatic modernist language shaped by the post-war Soviet musical context.
