String Quintet in C major, D. 956 is a string quintet by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1828. The work is chamber music in the late Classical to early Romantic idiom, scored for two violins, viola and two cellos, and is characterised by expansive proportions, complex harmonic writing and an extended slow movement, placing it among Schubert's late compositions written in the final year of his life.
