Finlandia
Album by Jean Sibelius & London Symphony Orchestra & Gennadi Nikolayevich Rozhdestvensky
Finlandia is a symphonic poem by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, composed in 1899 and revised in 1900. A late-Romantic nationalist work, it juxtaposes turbulent, dark orchestral passages with a hymn-like, lyrical theme and broad homophonic textures, and it occupies a central place in Sibelius's output and in the development of Finnish national music.
